As fiscal officer I will oversee and safeguard the funds of the township and work closely with the trustees to assure monies are spent wisely and in the best interest of our residents & community. This can be accomplished by evaluating the vendors that serve the township to assure we are receiving the best services and products for the dollars spent. I will also assure that all invoices are paid in a timely manner to prevent late charges. I will assist the township department heads in exploring new sources of revenue, such as grants.
Rising costs and decreasing revenue. I think the issue is addressed by analyzing our current costs and constantly seeking out ways to cut costs without decreasing services to our residents. I want to see the residents of German Township receive the same quality services at the lowest cost.
Working as the secretary for the township, I have acquired a significant knowledge as to the operations of all township departments. This enables me to understand the specific needs of each area. This in turn is helpful when looking at budgets and expenses. I also have exceptional computer training and skills and have been able to trouble-shoot many township computer problems. This has saved the township from hiring outside sources to solve computer glitches.
I have been married to my husband, Jeff Emory, for 10 1/2 years and we have 6 children together. I stay very active in the community by serving as the secretary of the board for the Northwestern Warrior Youth Say Soccer Association, I am a member of the North Hampton Lion's Club, I am involved in the Northwestern Elementary PTO and I am the secretary of the German Township Firefighter's Association. I am currently employed by German Township, serving as an Advanced EMT and Firefighter with the fire department and in addition I am also the township secretary.

Continue keeping detailed and accurate records for the Township Funds. I have been able to reduce our State Audit costs by having clean audits in previous years. Instead of having a full audit, the township was able to have an Agreed Upon Procedures audit, which saved the Township $2875. By working with our bank and changing several of our accounts, our banking fees have dropped by over $2000. And we are now earning more interest on the Township funds than we ever have before. In 2013 interest was $418.66. To date, this year’s interest earnings are at $14,672. I will continue to look for ways to reduce costs, and increase earnings, all while keeping our funds safe and fully collateralized by the bank.
The biggest challenge for the township is the ever increasing cost of providing services to the community. As in any business, our biggest expenses are personnel and equipment. The Township strives to hire responsible, dedicated people to serve our community. They are well trained and knowledgeable. Our equipment is well maintained and serviced. In order to continue providing you the best, we must work within our budgets, forecasting and setting aside funds for future larger expenditures, looking for the best price without sacrificing quality, working with other governmental entities to lower costs, and taking advantage of the various grants available.
I have served the Township as Fiscal Officer for the past seven years. I am honest, responsible and dedicated. I attend the Ohio Township Conference, the State Auditors Local Government Officials Conference and the State Treasurers Certified Public Investment Management classes in order to meet the requirements of the Fiscal Officers Integrity Act, which requires the Fiscal Officer to attend public records training, ethics, and a specific number of hours of training per term.
I have lived in this community since I was three years old. My husband, Dale, and I will celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary in September. Our children were raised on his family’s farm; now our grandchildren are growing up here in German Township and attending Northwestern preschool and kindergarten. For us, this community has been a great place to raise a family. I hope I will be able to continue to give back to the community by continuing to serve as your Fiscal Officer.
