One of the biggest problems facing the community is growth. We are not growing as fast as other townships but it is coming. How will we handle these needs with such a small budget? How do we work with business and community? Are we doing all we can do to serve our constituents? To tackle these problems, we need to listen to our people, collaborate with other governmental entities to see how they are handling growth, look at what we are doing well and see how we can improve.
I feel I'm qualified for this job for many reasons. I am involved in many areas in our community and Warren County. As I have said, my husband and I had our own business in Salem Township for many years. We worked on a small budget at first and had to make good business decisions. I am a listener and a "doer". People want to be heard. How better to learn the needs of our community. I serve on the Chamber Alliance Board which goes to Columbus and DC to lobby for the needs of Warren County. There are grants we can apply for to help. Our trustees do a good job but we can always improve.
First, if elected, we as a group of trustees need to look at what is working and what we can improve. We need to collaborate with the village and business owners. We need to promote our area, bring in small businesses, which is happening in the Morrow Arts Center. We as trustees need to be more visible and involved in local area events. I attend the Municipal League meetings to learn what other municipalities are doing to bring in new business. I feel I can make a difference.
Being a trustee is an important job. I feel listening to our residents should be a requirement. We need to ask them, what are we dong well and what do you think we still need to do. Maybe have a township meeting just to listen. We can only do what our budget allows us to do. The residents need to know what we can do and what is beyond our means. We need to have more of a presence in our township.
I am involved, I listen, and I am a "doer"! I only work part time and have the time to listen and help us become better. I have raised my children in this area and love being in a small town setting. We have good schools, not much crime and we feel safe. I want to help bring business into the area and work to promote Salem Township.
Experience I am a Director of Quality Assurance in the Aviation and Defense Industry where I am responsible to ensure compliance and transparency. I consult with businesses on policy and procedure implementation in several industries. I am also responsible for Continuous Improvement and develop and work with people to reduce waste in their processes and to be more efficient and cost effective. I challenge the status quo and propose and implement new methods by listening and being a strong problem solver.
Education I am a Clermont Northeastern (CNE) graduate and attended the University of Cincinnati. I hold a certificates as a Lead Auditor for the Aerospace Industry and am a AATT certified Auditor. I am a Six Sigma Black Belt through American Society for Quality (ASQ). I also have a Real Estate Sale license, currently in escrow. I am a trained Disaster Action Team (DAT) member through the American Red Cross and am a trained Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) through Warren County, Ohio.

I believe that some of the biggest problems our community faces is not keeping up with growth, both infrastructure and business growth. The communities around Salem Township are growing and more residents are moving into our area because it is a wonderful place to live, but Salem Township is not growing/supporting at the same pace. As a resident it is difficult to see what the township is doing to foster that growth and understand where our taxes are being applied. Transparency is huge gap in the township and knowing what matters to the residents is not being understood. The trustees work for the residents of the township and need to listen to what matters to them.
What makes me qualified for the job is that I listen to people and hear what they have to say. I am a proven leader within my industry and will bring that experience and knowledge with me. I work hard and once I have made a commitment I will stand by that commitment and see it through. In my current position I am responsible for my department budget and am consistently under budget because I am effective planner and use resources effectively. I am emphatic and a good listener, I will always be respectful to community members. I am a strong believer in that if you don't go out and connect with the people you will not understand their needs. If you don't understand the needs of the community you cannot effectively lead.
I believe that the township and the village need to work together to draw more businesses into the community. There is great opportunity in the village along the bike trail to draw more businesses in. Creating parks and sporting areas to draw families into the area and create more shopping and restaurants for visitors and residents to spend more time in town. Offer business owners incentives to setup shops in town. We need to support our farming community with resources and places to sell goods.
I will ensure transparency in the township and give the community members access to knowledge of the going on of the town. I will be active in the community and listen to the residents and hear what is important to them and bring that to fruition. I will actively work to implement some of the positive planning that was developed. We will work to improve the infrastructure; roads and cemeteries, and continue the great support of the township fire department. I will bring a fresh perspective to the way things are done and bring new ideas to the table, spark debate on ways to implement change and use our tax dollars in the most efficient way possible.
As a resident of Salem Township I am concerned with what is being accomplished with my and your tax dollars. When I see and hear from other residents some of the waste and lack of accountability within the community, I want to do something about it. This is why I am running for Trustee. I see the residents as "customers" to the Trustees and we should be treated with respect and heard. The Trustees should be held to a standard and held to account for their responsibilities to the community.
